Tomato-Based Pulled Pork Sandwiches: Review

There is nothing that beats pulled pork sandwiches fresh off the smoker in the summer! The two traditional ways to make them are either with a vinegar-based mop or with a tomato-based sauce. The vinegar-based mop is also known as the “North Carolina” way to make pulled pork sandwiches and I guess that just proves that I’m a Northerner through and through. I’ve made both and I just don’t see the point of the vinegar mop. It’s too tart for my liking and I think that one of the main joys of a pulled pork sandwich is that messy sauce slopping down your fingers and hand while you’re eating it. I mean, if you’re gonna go barbecue, you might as well really go barbecue, right?

This recipe takes just as much advance planning and prepping as the vinegar-mop-style, but it’s definitely twice as good! I am happy that I tried North Carolina pulled pork sandwiches. But for me, this is the only way I’ll ever eat my pulled pork again!
