Hell’s Kitchen: Week 2
So I missed the first week of Hell’s Kitchen last week. I did watch it, but I didn’t get the bright idea to write about it on my blog until today. And I have to say, Week 2 of Hell’s Kitchen really disappointed me. I wasn’t disappointed or surprised to find out that the women couldn’t work together very well (women rarely can I think, and I am one!), nor was I surprised that Chef Ramsay was completely enraged at the performance on a whole during service. But there were a few things that I was surprised about. And most of all, I was surprised about who went home – Mikey!! Oh no!!
I really liked Mikey and I sort of thought that he got a bum deal. Last week, Mikey got screamed at because his halibut wasn’t cooked through. Yet, it was Scott, the “I’m too good to be amongst only cooks” jackass that kept yelling at him to take it out of the oven. Sure enough, when Mikey took it up to the pass, Chef Ramsay had a tantrum, smashed the fish to bits, and told Mikey to cook another one. But Mikey, God love him, never passed the buck to Scott. He sucked it up and went back to cook his fish. And even when Scott patted him on the back and told him to “just make sure it’s cooked through”, Mikey didn’t lose it but just continued to cook. That was last week.
This week, Mikey again had problems cooking. But this time, it really was his fault. He just couldn’t get that damned risotto down and in the end, it cost him his life in Hell’s Kitchen. And Mikey wasn’t even voted out by his team! Chef Ramsay had two other chefs, Autumn and Jason that were put up. I have to say, I don’t think either of those two should have gone home either. So, who do I think should have gone home?
Scott, hands down, needs to go home! The boy might be able to cook but I just hate the fact that he thinks he’s so much better than everyone. I understand that chefs need to have attitude but Scott needs to remember one thing. He’s not a chef! Not here in Hell’s Kitchen anyway. He might be at the end of the season, but not yet. So he needs to drop this whole act like he knows everything and he can do everything so much better.
The previews for next week look super good. The women completely fall apart, and there are tears in the kitchen (which I just can’t stand by the way) and there’s lots of screaming and yelling going on. Just another week in Hell’s Kitchen I suppose. And for those that don’t watch the show, this pic was actually from the premiere last week when the contestants were cooking Chef their signature dishes. It’s apparently super hard to find the newest pictures of the current week’s episode unless you wait a few days.
One super exciting thing that I also saw while watching Hell’s Kitchen was that Gordon Ramsay has another sure-to-be-fabulous show coming out. It’s called Masterchef and that show will premiere on July 29. The show was promoted as “taking amateur chefs and making them professional chefs.” Wow, sounds great already. A personal culinary course from one of the masters himself. I can’t wait for it!
